LACASA Center

LACASA Center is a Livingston County nonprofit that provides comprehensive support for children, adults and families affected by child abuse, domestic violence and sexual violence. Based in Howell, the organization offers crisis intervention, advocacy, counseling, emergency housing, prevention programs and other services designed to help victims and survivors move toward greater safety and stability.

Children are a major focus of LACASA’s work. Its Child Advocacy Center provides a coordinated setting for children who may have experienced abuse, including forensic interviewing, counseling, advocacy and other trauma-informed support. The center also includes spaces for children’s activities, individual counseling and interactive therapy programs.

LACASA also operates a Court Appointed Special Advocates program, commonly known as CASA, in which trained volunteers are appointed by the court to advocate for the best interests of children involved in abuse and neglect cases. Volunteers work with the court system and other professionals while helping ensure that a child’s needs and circumstances remain visible throughout the legal process.

Beyond its child-focused services, LACASA provides a 24-hour helpline, emergency shelter, counseling, legal advocacy, food, clothing and other assistance for survivors of domestic and sexual violence. All victim services are provided at no charge. The organization also offers community education and prevention programs designed to increase awareness, strengthen families and reduce interpersonal violence.

Community members can support LACASA through financial contributions, volunteering, donated goods, fundraising events and the LACASA Collection resale store. Volunteers assist with children and youth programs, crisis services, community education, special events, the resale store and other areas that help the organization continue serving victims and survivors throughout Livingston County.
