Hamburg Township Historical Society

Hamburg Township Historical Society is a Livingston County nonprofit dedicated to preserving and sharing the history of Hamburg Township and the surrounding community. Through its museum, archives, exhibits and public programs, the organization helps residents and visitors better understand the people, places and events that shaped the area.

The Society operates the Hamburg Township Historical Museum at 7225 Stone Street in the historic village of Hamburg. The museum is housed in a building with its own long community history, having previously served as a church, township hall and library before becoming a museum. Its collections include local artifacts, photographs, documents and displays that help illustrate the development of Hamburg Township over time.

Exhibits and special programs give visitors opportunities to explore local history in greater depth. The museum also maintains research resources for people interested in community history and genealogy, and its volunteers help preserve materials that might otherwise be lost over time.

The Society also works to keep local history visible beyond the museum itself. Its activities have included historical markers, walking tours, presentations, seasonal events and community programs designed to connect residents with Hamburg Township’s past.

Community members can support Hamburg Township Historical Society through membership, donations, volunteering and participation in museum programs and fundraising events. These contributions help maintain the museum, preserve local collections and continue educational and historical programming for the community.
