Livingston Family Center

Livingston Family Center is a Livingston County nonprofit that provides counseling, crisis support, youth services and family-focused programs designed to help people build greater safety, stability and well-being. Founded in 1996, the organization serves children, teens, young adults and families through several coordinated programs operating across the county.

Through The Connection Youth Services, Livingston Family Center supports runaway, homeless and at-risk youth with emergency shelter, transitional living, crisis intervention, case management, counseling, street outreach and a free drop-in center in Howell. Youth can also access support groups, food, hygiene supplies, computers, life-skills programming and connections to education and employment resources.

The organization also operates The Family Connection Center, which provides supervised parenting time and safe exchanges for families affected by domestic violence. The program offers a neutral, monitored setting where children can maintain or rebuild relationships with a non-custodial parent while keeping safety at the center of the process.

Outpatient counseling is another major part of Livingston Family Center’s work. Licensed clinicians provide mental health treatment for children, adolescents, adults, couples and families, with services available on a sliding fee scale for eligible households. Counseling addresses a range of concerns including anxiety, depression, trauma, family challenges and adjustment to difficult life circumstances.

Community support helps sustain these programs and fill gaps not covered by public funding. Residents can contribute through financial donations, wish-list items, volunteering and other forms of involvement that help provide food, shelter, counseling, transportation, life-skills support and practical resources for youth and families throughout Livingston County.
