Pinckney Community Youth Development Initiative, commonly known as PCYDI, is a local nonprofit focused on helping young people make healthy, positive choices through education, supportive relationships and community involvement. The organization operates The HUB in downtown Pinckney, providing a welcoming space where local youth can spend time, connect with peers and participate in constructive activities outside of school.
During the school year, The HUB offers free after-school programming several days each week. Students can take part in recreational and social activities while having access to a supervised environment designed specifically for young people in the Pinckney community. Transportation from Pinckney Community High School and Pathfinder is available during regular after-school hours.
Education is a significant part of PCYDI’s work. The organization provides free individual tutoring for local students, including scheduled sessions at the Pinckney Community Library. Recent investments have helped expand tutoring availability, improve access to technology and create additional opportunities for educational and skill-building activities.
PCYDI also organizes and supports youth activities, community events and special programs throughout the year. Its work is built around partnerships with Pinckney Community Schools, local government, businesses, volunteers and other community organizations that share an interest in supporting young people and strengthening the broader community.
Volunteers are central to the organization’s ability to provide programming. Community members can help during regular HUB hours, assist with tutoring, support special events or contribute skills in areas such as planning, outreach and marketing. Donations and wish-list contributions also help provide technology, games, food, activity supplies and other resources used by local students.
